Interior design in Kingston

Interior design in Kingston covers everything from a two-bed flat by the river to a five-bed family house on Kingston Hill. Whatever the home, we plan the layout, finishes, lighting, joinery and furniture as one scheme so it feels considered rather than assembled. In terraces, that often means opening the back of the house to the garden and building storage into alcoves and under stairs. In flats, it means making every square metre count. You get full access to our trade discounts, and our hourly design consultancy suits anyone who wants to run the project themselves. We start with a consultation at home and a clear brief, then develop layouts, mood boards and a full specification. We can then order everything and oversee installation.

Homes in Kingston

Canbury's streets are mainly late Victorian, two-storey houses on a grid, with detached, semi-detached and terraced houses and small walled front gardens. Fairfield and Knight's Park have larger period houses, while newer flats line the river and town centre. Each brings a different brief, but the aim is the same: rooms that flow, plenty of light and storage that keeps daily life tidy. Kingston Hill and Coombe have larger houses again, where the brief is often a whole-house scheme rather than a single room.

Local knowledge

Planning and local notes

Kingston upon Thames is a London borough with 26 conservation areas, including Fairfield/Knight's Park, Kingston Hill, Kingston Old Town, Park Road and Riverside North and South. In those areas, roof alterations, windows and front extensions are more closely controlled, and some rights to extend without planning may be removed. Outside them, many rear extensions and lofts may fall under permitted development. We check the position for your street before drawing.

FAQs

Questions we're asked

Do you design flats as well as houses in Kingston?

Yes. Several of our projects are flats, including a Tulse Hill flat we reconfigured from one bedroom to two. Good planning matters even more in a smaller space.

Can you work to a fixed budget?

Yes. We agree the budget at the start and design to it, using trade discounts and careful choices so the money goes where you will notice it most.

How much does an interior designer cost?

It's usually the first thing people ask, and we don't publish a figure, because it depends on the property and how much you want us to do. The full design service is priced per room and quoted as a fixed sum for the deliverables you've agreed. Everything we source goes through our trade accounts and the discounts are passed on to you, which on a larger project often offsets much of the design fee.

What does an interior designer actually do?

We design the room or the whole house: layout, finishes, lighting, joinery and furniture. You get a floorplan and moodboard, 2D visuals, a sample board of physical fabrics, flooring, wall finishes and tiles, 3D visuals, and a finish schedule listing every item and where to source it. Then we order it, take the deliveries and check what arrives. If the room needs building work, our architect prepares the planning and technical drawings and we can run the build.
