Interior design in Dulwich
Much of our interior design portfolio is in Dulwich. In a Dulwich Edwardian house, we combined three small rooms into one large family kitchen as part of a full renovation. In our side return project, a narrow, dark kitchen became a family room with space to eat together. We plan layouts, finishes, lighting, joinery and furniture as one scheme, keeping period detail and adding modern comfort. You get full access to our trade discounts, and an hourly consultation is there if you would rather lead the project yourself. Every project starts with a consultation at home. We then develop mood boards, layouts and a full specification, order everything and oversee the installation, finishing with styling so the rooms are ready to live in.

Homes in Dulwich
Dulwich's Victorian and Edwardian houses typically have a front reception, a back room and a narrow kitchen in the rear outrigger, with original fireplaces, cornicing and sash windows. Many also have damp, dated heating or awkward later additions. A good scheme brings the back of the house together and lets the period rooms at the front shine. Colour helps too: in the Edwardian house we used vibrant colour and reflective surfaces to lift the darker rooms. Built-in storage in bedrooms, such as the sliding wardrobes we fitted there, also makes a big difference.
Local knowledge
Planning and local notes
Dulwich straddles Southwark and Lambeth, and includes the Dulwich Village, Dulwich Wood and Sunray Estate conservation areas. Many homes are also on the Dulwich Estate, whose Scheme of Management, approved by the High Court in 1974, needs separate prior approval for changes to the outside of a property, significant garden changes and work to trees. That approval is in addition to council planning, so we check both early.

FAQs
Questions we're asked
Have you worked on houses in Dulwich before?
Yes. Our Dulwich projects include a side return kitchen, an Edwardian house renovation, a West Dulwich flat and a West Dulwich bathroom featured in 25 Beautiful Homes. You can see them on our projects page.
Can you work with furniture we already own?
Yes. We often design around pieces clients love, and source new items to sit alongside them, with full access to our trade discounts.
How much does an interior designer cost?
It's usually the first thing people ask, and we don't publish a figure, because it depends on the property and how much you want us to do. The full design service is priced per room and quoted as a fixed sum for the deliverables you've agreed. Everything we source goes through our trade accounts and the discounts are passed on to you, which on a larger project often offsets much of the design fee.
What does an interior designer actually do?
We design the room or the whole house: layout, finishes, lighting, joinery and furniture. You get a floorplan and moodboard, 2D visuals, a sample board of physical fabrics, flooring, wall finishes and tiles, 3D visuals, and a finish schedule listing every item and where to source it. Then we order it, take the deliveries and check what arrives. If the room needs building work, our architect prepares the planning and technical drawings and we can run the build.
